Are you willing to do the work?

I have not posted in a while for a number of reasons but today I am compelled to post because of the cultural climate of our country. As a Christian it is disheartening to see such ugliness and hatred. Especially when Jesus calls us to love one another as we love ourselves. I am not typically one that says well we’ll all seek judgement because we have a guidebook that was created to help us live the lives God wants for us. The Bible says, faith without works is dead ( James 2: 14-26). Therefore, I choose to work. I choose to have the tough and uncomfortable conversations because I don’t want my son or my nieces and nephews to continue to see the hate and ugliness that we have seen this weekend at UVA and in other areas of the country. So, today I am charging you with doing the work. Figure out your biases for your fellow brothers and sisters, create opportunities to start a dialogue, donate to a socially just cause, stand arm and arm with someone that is ethnically, racially, socioeconomically, differently abled, non-Christian and of the LGBTQ community. Show up for them because they (we) need it. America is hurting but as the verse of the day reminded me:

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

This scripture gave me hope, faith and helped me to remember that we must continue to persevere but we must also work together. I pray many blessings over your week and remember find ways to do the “work”
