“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and the darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” -Genesis 1:1-2 (KJV)
Sometimes something sings in your heart for a while and you try to ignore it, because you don’t want to be the girl in the office humming the song that drives everyone nuts… but it is there, rubbing on you all damn day. That’s how this blog started for me. The idea was there in my heart and mind, stewing for more than a year, but starting projects is scary and Lord knows I have plenty to do to fill my time, but it was there nagging me. To make this work, I knew I would need partners and accountability, so I had to put myself out there.
Three days before the new year, I sent a Facebook message out to a collection of my girlfriends, women from all over the country who inspire my faith. We are from different backgrounds, traditions and churches, some go to church more nights than not, but I haven’t been in seven months. Some are strangers, some are friends, some single, married, mothers, graduates, graduate students, employees, business owners, and so much more, but what we all have in common is the desire to grow.
The idea is to read the bible together. To bolster one another’s efforts, to listen to one another’s ideas, and raise up the voices that aren’t our own. We won’t always share an opinion, and we don’t always share beliefs. But that doesn’t matter, because this is about exploring our minds and our faith and sharing all of that with you, dear reader. This blog is our space to create. It came from nothingness, and was encouraged by our Creator, and we pray the Spirit of God will help us form it into something wonderful for us and for you.
In the next few days we’ll introduce ourselves to you, and build up our site, and our little corner of the internet. Stay tuned for posts and updates (and don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss a post!).
Here, dear readers, is to new beginnings.
